Welcome!
We are NCMTA, the North Carolina Music Teachers Association, affiliate of the Music Teachers National Association. We are a non-profit organization founded in 1959. Today we consist of approximately 500 music teachers throughout the state.
Mission and Vision
The mission of NCMTA is the advancement of musical knowledge and education through discussion, investigation, performance, publication, and the promotion of the general welfare of music teachers in the state of North Carolina. The vision for our activities is aimed both at the promotion of the art of music and of the advancement of musical knowledge by disseminating the knowledge of educational activities and by promoting the appreciation of music throughout the state.


Recognitions
NCMTA was the proud recipient of the MTNA State Affiliate of the Year for 2020! Our past President Dr. Vicky Fischer Faw was named MTNA Teacher of the Year in 2022! Our Raleigh Piano Teachers Association was named MTNA’s Local Association of the Year 2023! We are proud and grateful for these recognitions of our North Carolina colleagues and their dedication to our profession.
