Registered participants for the NCMTA 2023-25 Piano Festival Workshop enter here. Our workshops are held virtually, via our NCMTA Vimeo channel! You are required to have the workshop password to participate; please check your email for the password after registration.
WHY WORKSHOP?
The workshop is an opportunity for you and your students to hear Festival works performed and discussed by experienced teacher/performers. Utilizing this resource is an excellent opportunity to experience a broad range of select repertoire, even if you have no students participating in the festival! Teachers who will be judging are also highly encouraged to register.

Douglas Jurs presents the 2023-25 Junior A&B repertoire
Dr. Douglas Jurs is in his second year as Associate Professor of Piano and Piano Pedagogy at Elon University and was recently elected Vice-President of the Greensboro Music Teachers Association. With colleague Eden Brown, he recently published the complete keyboard works of Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges with Music by Black Composers
Victoria Fischer Faw presents the 2023-35 Senior A repertoire
VICTORIA FISCHER FAW, NCTM, DMA, Professor Emerita at Elon University, is a pianist, teacher, and scholar whose musical passions include the full range of piano solo and collaborative repertoire, teaching young teachers to teach piano, and mentoring undergraduate musical research.
Recent honors include being named 2021 North Carolina Music Teachers Association Teacher of the Year, MTNA 2022 National Teacher of the Year, and MTNA Foundation Fellow for 2022. Her scholarship and performance activity includes a specialty in the music of Béla Bartók. She won first prize at the 1990 Bartók-Kabalevsky International Piano Competition and has published and presented many articles and programs to local, state and national music teachers on Bartók and other musical topics. Dr. Fischer studied at Centenary College of Louisiana, UNC-Chapel Hill, UT Austin, and the Vienna Conservatory. Her teachers include Constance Knox Carroll, Danielle Martin, David Renner, Amanda Vick Lethco, Martha Hilley and Elliott Antokoletz. She is active in NCMTA and MTNA, and lives on a Christmas tree farm in Sparta, NC with her husband, Steve.
Frank Pittman presents the 2023-25 Senior B repertoire
Dr. Frank Pittman, NCTM is the owner and founder of the Piano Academy of North Carolina, LLC. In his 40 years of teaching experience, his students have participated in numerous national and international music festivals and performance competitions. Many former students are currently career musicians and music educators.
He has served on the faculties of the Governor’s School of North Carolina, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Meredith College, Campbell University, the Actors Center in Philadelphia, the Durham School of the Arts, and has been a guest Lecturer of Music Theatre at Temple University. As an active pianist, Dr. Pittman performs as a recitalist, concerto soloist, and chamber musician throughout the United States and Europe. While touring Great Britain, he was honored to perform in a live broadcast on British Radio.
In 2019, Dr. Pittman started his own publishing company, PANC Publications, LLC™, a publishing branch of the Piano Academy of North Carolina, LLC. PANC Publications™ is dedicated to creating interactive scores for the beginning, intermediate, and early advanced piano students that may be difficult to find in print. Each work is carefully researched, meticulously recorded, and diligently engraved. His recent editions, 24 Melodious Etudes, Op. 50 by Cornelius Gurlitt and Petite suite, L. 71a by Claude Debussy have sold worldwide.
Dr. Pittman regularly adjudicates for local, regional, national, and international piano competitions. He is a recurring examiner for the Hong Kong Schools Music Competition and has served on the boards of state and local organizations. For six years he served as the state director of the North Carolina Music Teachers Association Piano Performance Festival. He is a permanently professional certified teacher of music in piano.
